Hogan Assessment Guide for leaders and executive coaching
Hogan assessments are workplace personality inventories usually administered and interpreted through official Hogan channels or Hogan-certified providers. This independent guide explains HPI, HDS and MVPI and how official access works — it is not an online Hogan test and not a substitute for certified interpretation.
This is an independent guide and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Hogan Assessments.
What is Hogan and why is it used in executive coaching?
Hogan Assessments publishes workplace-focused personality assessments used in organizational and leadership contexts. In practice, they help leaders and sponsors discuss behavioural patterns in role, under strain, and around what people find motivating — not clinical diagnosis.
In executive coaching, an official Hogan report can open a clearer conversation about everyday reputation at work, derailment risks under pressure, and the environments someone finds rewarding. According to Hogan’s public materials, accurate and ethical interpretation belongs with Hogan-certified practitioners or providers.
The three core inventories: HPI, HDS and MVPI
Hogan’s foundational certification centres on three core inventories. The descriptions below are original paraphrases of publicly documented concepts — they do not reproduce proprietary scales, scoring keys or assessment items.
HPI·Hogan Personality Inventory
A view of everyday or “bright-side” reputation and typical work behaviour — how someone tends to show up when things are running as usual.
HDS·Hogan Development Survey
Potential derailment patterns that can emerge under strain or when self-management is reduced.
MVPI·Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory
Motives, values and preferences — and the kinds of environments and rewards a person may find motivating.
Is Hogan a personality test?
Yes, in the sense of a workplace personality assessment. It is designed to inform how people tend to behave, where risk may show under pressure, and what they value at work.
It is not a clinical or medical diagnosis and does not replace mental-health assessment, therapy or other specialist care outside coaching and leadership development.
Is there a good or bad Hogan score?
Hogan’s public FAQ states there is no single ideal Hogan score or profile. Results should be interpreted in the person’s job context and future goals.
Hogan recommends discussing results with a Hogan-certified coach or practitioner so role context, culture and development aims stay in view.
How do I access official Hogan assessments?
This website does not administer Hogan. For official access, use the Hogan ecosystem:
- Start on the official Hogan website and follow product or contact routes there.
- Check the official distributor/partner directory for local administration, certification or services. Iran is not shown in the public distributor directory reviewed for this guide; that observation alone is not proof that Hogan cannot serve Iranian or Persian-speaking clients.
- Use the Hogan Coaching Network to find a provider or coach, including filters such as Executive Assessment and Executive Coaching.
Is Hogan available in Persian / Farsi?
Public Hogan materials say assessments are available in 40+ languages and describe formal translation and cultural-adaptation practices.
In the public Hogan sources reviewed for this guide, Persian/Farsi does not appear in the displayed language list. Hogan advises contacting them for languages not shown. Confirm Persian availability with Hogan or an official provider before purchase or enrolment.
Why are Hogan questions not on this site?
Hogan’s Terms of Service treat assessments, scales, algorithms, scoring keys, items/questions, reports and related materials as Hogan intellectual property. They must not be reproduced, informally translated or reverse-engineered here.
Even setting IP aside, informal translation would not preserve psychometric validity or cultural adaptation. Official administration belongs with authorized Hogan channels.
Mehdi Nejadrasouli is not currently Hogan-certified and does not provide official Hogan interpretation or debrief.
How is Hogan used in executive coaching?
A responsible path usually looks like: official assessment → certified feedback/debrief → clear development goals → coaching and action.
This guide does not imply that Mehdi currently provides the official Hogan feedback step. Until he is Hogan-certified, official interpretation should go through a certified provider.
If he later becomes certified, the boundary between official Hogan work and executive coaching should still be contracted explicitly.
- Official assessment via Hogan or an authorized provider
- Interpretation and feedback by a Hogan-certified practitioner
- Translate insights into leadership development goals
- Executive coaching on goals the leader chooses to own
What if I already have an official Hogan report?
For official interpretation, work with a Hogan-certified provider or coach. Full self-interpretation is not a substitute for a certified debrief.
Separately, Mehdi can offer executive coaching on leadership goals you choose — without presenting himself as a Hogan interpreter.
If you bring a report into coaching, be explicit about which themes you want to work on and which parts still need certified interpretation.
